Phil Jackson has subtle response to ‘posse’ criticism
Phil Jackson has not apologized for his use of the term “posse” when speaking about LeBron James and his friends earlier this week, and it doesn’t appear the 11-time NBA champion will be backing down any time soon.
In fact, Jackson may have defended himself in a subtle manner on Twitter. After LeBron and his business partner Maverick Carter ripped Jackson, the Zen Master retweeted the following tweet about an organization called The Posse Foundation, Inc:
'@possefoundation is a worthy & positive organization – https://t.co/dFpgN7F7EF

Here’s the screenshot from Jackson’s account:
That would seemingly be Jackson’s way of saying he did not intend for his use of the term to be derogatory. LeBron and Carter obviously disagree.
Carter believes Jackson should have referenced LeBron’s “friends” or “business partners” rather than calling them a “posse.” James’ longtime friend said he believes the term “posse” has racial undertones. You can read Carter’s full comments here.
LeBron, who was also accused by Jackson of needing special treatment, agrees with Carter. So much so, in fact, that James made these strong remarks about Jackson on Tuesday. We’re not surprised Jackson responded the way he did.
