The Milwaukee Bucks believe Doc Rivers is the right person to lead them to another NBA title, and they are paying the head coach accordingly.
Rivers has signed a contract with the Bucks that runs through the 2026-27 season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The deal is worth $40 million in total, which works out to roughly $11.4 million per year since Rivers is only coaching for half the season this year.

An $11.4 million salary makes Rivers the third-highest paid coach in the NBA behind only Gregg Popovich, who reportedly makes $16 million annually with the San Antonio Spurs, and Erik Spoelstra, who recently signed an extension with the Miami Heat that is worth $15 million per year.
The Bucks stunned the NBA earlier this week when they fired Adrian Griffin, who had led the team to a 30-13 start this season. It quickly became clear that Milwaukee had a plan in the works for a while to hire Rivers.
The contract the Bucks gave Rivers is further proof of how much faith they have in him. Many fans think the plan is going to backfire, as evidenced by the joke we saw everyone making after Milwaukee hired Rivers.
