The Orlando Magic now have a vacant head-coaching position.
The Magic have decided to part ways with head coach Jamahl Mosley following Orlando’s missed opportunity to advance to the second round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
Shams Charania reported Mosley’s dismissal on Monday.
“BREAKING: The Orlando Magic have dismissed head coach Jamahl Mosley, sources tell ESPN. Mosley’s tenure in Orlando finishes after five seasons, including three consecutive playoff runs from 2023 to 2026. Orlando had a first-round elimination for the third straight time Sunday,” Charania wrote in a post on X.
The Magic have the entire offseason to look for Mosley’s successor, and that search will be led by team president Jeff Weltman, Charania added.
Mosley had long been rumored to be on the hot seat before Orlando finally pulled the plug on the partnership. He had a golden opportunity to strengthen his case for keeping his job when he guided the Magic to an unlikely 3-1 series lead in the first round of the playoffs against the Pistons, but Detroit responded with three wins in a row to send Orlando home.
Hired by the Magic to be their head coach in 2021, Mosley had a coaching record of 189-221 with the team and led Orlando to three consecutive playoff appearances.
