Report: Rockets contacting other teams about Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard

The Houston Rockets have reportedly begun reaching out to other teams regarding a Dwight Howard trade.

According to Yahoo! Sports’s Adrian Wojnarowski, with the knowledge that Howard intends to opt out at the end of the season to seek a maximum contract, Rockets GM Daryl Morey has begun contacting other teams to gauge interest. The team has begun working with Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, on possible destinations.

At just 27-28, the Rockets are not anywhere close to what they were supposed to be. Howard in particular has had to deal with rumors that he’s not happy with his role. With all that in mind, plus the fact that Howard is 30, the Rockets almost certainly won’t be giving him the max contract he wants and would be wise to do exactly what they’re doing right now. The team sounds serious about moving him. The Rockets and Celtics reportedly engaged in Howard talks, but it was unclear who initiated those discussions.
