Steph Curry goes viral for reaction on bench during Warriors’ season-ending loss

Steph Curry could not help but stare into the abyss as his team’s season came to an end with him in street clothes.

The Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs on Wednesday with a loss in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Golden State fell 121-110 during a game in which Minnesota led by double digits in the second quarter and eventually extended the advantage to as many as 25 points down the stretch.

Timberwolves big man Julius Randle had an especially stellar game, finishing with a game-high 29 points. During one sequence late in the first half, Randle, who is a 33.4 percent career shooter from three, hit a deep trey to extend Minnesota’s lead to 11.

The TNT broadcast cut to Curry on the bench, shaking his head and staring blankly into space.

That really had to hurt for Curry, who suffered a hamstring strain during Game 1 of the series (video here). The Warriors went on to win that game, meaning that they only had to win one of the next four in order for Curry to have a shot at returning for a potential Game 6 (which he was fully on track for).

Instead though, Golden State dropped four straight games to Minnesota, ending their hopes of winning another title. Now the Warriors will have to go back to the drawing board this summer, but they may still have another swing left in them as Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green are all under contract for at least another season.
