Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr would love to stay with the team long-term — he just needs to make sure his body will allow it.

The Warriors have made no secret of the fact that they want to keep Kerr for as long as possible, and Kerr wants to keep coaching — but his back issues have lingered for a good part of his tenure and he doesn’t wish to commit to a new deal only to find out that physical limitations would keep him from fulfilling his end of it.

“I know I enjoy coaching and that I want to keep coaching,” Kerr said, via Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area. “But it’s impossible to know if I’ll be in the position to do so.”

Kerr has been feeling better of late, but the problems that caused him to miss much of last year’s playoffs came about abruptly. You can understand why he doesn’t want to make a commitment he can’t keep.
