Report: Suns open to trading sixth pick for veteran guard
The Phoenix Suns are in the point guard market, and they’ll even trade their first-round draft pick to get one.
According to Jonathan Givony of ESPN, the Suns have made it clear to other teams that the No. 6 pick would be available via trade if the right veteran guard became available.
The Suns have a talented nucleus of young players led by guard Devin Booker, and last year’s No. 1 pick DeAndre Ayton has the middle locked down. They lack a long-term solution at point guard, however, and appear to be prepared to use this to get it.
Rumor had it that the Suns were sizing up the top point guard in the draft, which makes plenty of sense. Ultimately, there’s no way he’ll still be on the board at No. 6, so this sort of exploration makes sense.
