Report: Timberwolves will try to sign Derrick Rose after buyout
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ three-way trade that sent Derrick Rose to Utah could end up with the former MVP back with his former coach.
Rose was traded to Utah along with Jae Crowder as part of a deal that sent Rodney Hood and George Hill to Cleveland, and Joe Johnson to Sacramento.
The Vertical’s Shams Charania says the Jazz are likely to release Rose. The New York Times’ Marc Stein further reports that the Minnesota Timberwolves will try to sign Rose once he is bought out. He also says there is mutual interest in that happening.

With Tom Thibodeau in charge, Minnesota is a natural landing spot for Derrick Rose, who has interest in a reunion, league sources say

Rose played for Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau in Chicago. But the Timberwolves already have Jimmy Butler on the roster, and there was talk about him clashing with Rose when they were on the Bulls together. Maybe a reunion wouldn’t be for the best.
