Ty Lawson: Kings don’t take shootarounds seriously
It’s well-known by now that the basketball culture in Sacramento could use some work, and Kings point guard Ty Lawson is now giving us our latest reminder of that much.
After a 110-105 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday dropped the Kings to 4-8 on the season, Lawson expressed his frustration with the lackadaisical nature of the team, including during shootarounds.
“Shootarounds, we don’t take them serious,” said the former No. 18 overall pick, per Dan Feldman of ProBasketballTalk. “Nobody takes them serious. So, we do the same thing, even five on oh. Our pace is the way we play in the game. So, if you want to change that, we’ve got to change it with ourselves. It’s got to be important to you.”
Just when we thought that new head coach Dave Joerger was getting through to the team, the same ol’ Kings rear their ugly heads yet again. The veteran Lawson, who is averaging just 5.4 points and 5.0 assists per game so far this season, hasn’t exactly helped matters either, so we may be in for another long season of bumbling and stumbling in Sactown.
