Ty Lawson: I wish I could go to Mavericks, I’m better than Rajon Rondo
Ty Lawson has been a very consistent player for the Denver Nuggets over the past three or four seasons. The Dallas Mavericks could use someone like that in their backcourt, and Lawson would love to be that guy for them. The problem is he remains under contract through the 2016-2017 season.
Over the weekend, one of Lawson’s Instagram followers told him he should come to Dallas. Another person agreed and said the former UNC star would be an improvement over Rajon Rondo. Lawson was very honest in responding to both.
Caught this on Ty Lawson's Instagram. Pretty wild. What say you? @Adam_Mares @jmorton78 @Raj_Sharan @afeinst21 pic.twitter.com/mQh0q0rOro

While his scoring average dipped slightly this season from 17.6 to 15.2 points per game, Lawson’s passing has improved dramatically over the past three years. He averaged a career-high 9.6 assists per game this season as compared to 8.8 last year and 6.9 the year before.
The problem with Lawson is there have been questions about his maturity. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that he clearly wants out of Denver, but would the Mavericks want another point guard with an attitude problem? They had enough problems with Rondo, and he didn’t even spend a full year in Dallas. Don’t hold your breath, Ty.
