Trayce Jackson-Davis is definitely a man of his word.

The Golden State Warriors rookie Jackson-Davis was a surprise standout during the team’s thrilling overtime win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. He stepped into a bigger role off the bench after the Warriors lost fellow rookie Brandin Podziemski to an injury in the middle of the game and made the most of his opportunity. Jackson-Davis finished with his first career double-double (10 points and 13 rebounds) and also added three blocks, including a big momentum-swinging rejection of Jaylen Brown in the overtime period.

The Warriors won the contest 132-126, erasing what was once a 17-point deficit, and the forward Jackson-Davis finished as a game-high plus-25 in his 29 minutes of play.

After the game, Jackson-Davis’ old post to X from this year’s NBA draft night went viral.

“Y’all will regret it,” he wrote. “I promise you.”

Jackson-Davis was referencing the fact that he slid in the draft. A former First Team All-American at Indiana, Jackson-Davis wasn’t drafted until the 57th overall pick (when the Washington Wizards selected him and then flipped him to the Warriors as part of the Chris Paul-Jordan Poole trade).

The 23-year-old Jackson-Davis really changed the game on Tuesday with his energy on both ends of the floor and is making a case for a permanent role off the bench, especially in the continued suspension absence of Draymond Green. Though teammate Stephen Curry rightfully got most of the love for the win, definitely don’t sleep on Jackson-Davis for the rest of this season.
