A good portion of the sports week and weekend was spent honoring Mike Krzyzewski and the legacy he created at Duke. This was done ahead of Duke’s rivalry game against North Carolina on Saturday, which marked Coach K’s final home game at Cameron Indoor Stadium as Duke’s coach.
Though Coach K is recognized for his coaching excellence, he and his Duke program are also likely the most hated coach and team in college basketball. That is an honorable distinction (“they don’t boo nobodies”), but also made for some really funny social media posts this weekend.

My favorite Coach K memory is the time his team sucked and as soon as ACC play started he bailed for elective back surgery and saddled Pete Gaudet with a bunch of losses K didn’t want on his sterling record.

My favorite Coach K memory is how after Grayson Allen tripped or hit someone for the 76th time, Coach K finally disciplined him with an indefinite suspension…which lasted 1 cupcake OOC game, and allowed Allen to return for the subsequent ACC game.

Coach K has impacted plenty of lives in positive ways and received lots of attention for that. One of his former players shared a great story about him that went viral. But these alternative memories sharing lowlights from Krzyzewski’s career sure made for plenty of laughs for Duke’s bountiful haters.
