Jay Wright impressed by former team Hofstra, says he is watching every game
Jay Wright has been the head coach of Villanova since 2001, but that doesn’t mean he has forgotten about the school that he coached prior to that.
Speaking with reporters on Sunday, Wright was asked about the scorching hot play of Hofstra University. He replied by saying that he was loving it and was watching every game of theirs, per Jerry Carino of the Asbury Park Press.

Hofstra may be the hottest team in college basketball right now, having won their 16th straight game over the weekend. On the year, they hold a record of 19-3, which has them atop the Colonial Athletic Association by a wide margin.
As for Wright, he coached Hofstra for seven seasons from 1994 to 2001 in what was his first head coaching job. Wright took over a struggling program and led them to two conference titles and two NCAA Tournament berths, posting a record of 122-85 (.589) during his time there.
The veteran coach has always had an eye out for the little guys, and the Pride are obviously still near and dear to Wright’s heart, even after all these years.
