The Georgia Bulldogs will be in the hunt for a new head coach after parting ways with Tom Crean on Thursday.

Crean is out as Georgia coach, as first reported by Seth Emerson of The Athletic. The news comes after the Bulldogs capped off a 6-26 season with a 35-point loss to Vanderbilt in the SEC tournament Wednesday.

Crean was billed as a big hire for Georgia when he arrived prior to the 2018-19 season. To say it has not worked out would be an understatement. The Bulldogs never reached the postseason in four seasons under Crean, with a 14-12 record in 2020-21 their only winning campaign. Crean went 47-75 overall as Georgia head coach, with a record of just 15-57 in SEC play.

Beyond the record, Crean’s status seemed sealed by some unflattering reports earlier in the season. This does not come as a surprise at all.
