Arch Manning played without incident in Texas’ win over San Jose State on Saturday, but some think he might be dealing with some sort of injury issue.
Manning’s unusual throwing motion garnered attention during Texas’ 38-7 win at Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Tx. on Saturday. The sophomore quarterback seemed to be throwing almost sidearm at times, including on an 83-yard touchdown pass to Parker Livingstone.

In addition, some fans spotted Manning grimacing when making a throw during the first half.
I don’t have a dog in this fight, but Arch Manning is 100% dealing with a shoulder injury here. Look at the grimace pic.twitter.com/5QxZPg4D7U

Some argued that Manning was simply wincing in response to a bad throw. Others, however, felt that it, along with his throwing motion and a lack of zip on his passes, indicated that Manning was battling some sort of shoulder problem.
Texas has not said anything about any injury to Manning either before or after Saturday’s game.
Manning was much better on Saturday than he was a week ago against Ohio State. After a slow start, he wound up going 19/30 for 295 yards in a 38-7 win. He threw four touchdown passes and added a fifth on the ground, though he was still intercepted once.
Saturday’s performance will take some heat off Manning after what was a very poor start last week. However, this will still leave some wondering if he is not completely healthy, and if that may be a reason for some of his more underwhelming throws.
