Brian Kelly blames staffer for liked tweet about firing defensive coordinator
Notre Dame is sitting at just 1-2 after losing to Michigan State on Saturday, and coach Brian Kelly is dealing with some problems.
The performance of the team’s defense has been of particular concern, with the team surrendering 32 points per game and defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder has come under particular scrutiny.
That scrutiny has been aimed at Kelly’s Twitter account, where a tweet calling for VanGorder’s firing mysteriously found its way into the coach’s liked tweets.
Among other issues, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly probably wants to address who does his Twitter likes. pic.twitter.com/ib4nNvx1Nk

Kelly blamed a staffer for the like when speaking to the media on Sunday.
“I have a number of people that manage my Twitter account,” Kelly said, via Matt Fortuna of ESPN. “Just obviously going through it, somebody unfortunately made a mistake as they were scrolling through, inadvertently hit it and just a mistake, an unfortunate mistake that was made by one of my staff members.”
There haven’t been any staff shoving matches, so they’re all pulling in the same direction. If the Irish defense doesn’t shape up fast, though, the vitriol will only get worse.
