Cardale Jones

Cardale Jones had Ohio State fans hyperventilating for a few minutes on Friday after pulling a Twitter prank.

Jones, who took over as starting quarterback of the Buckeyes for the Big Ten Championship game and led the team to the national championship, tweeted that he was transferring to Akron:

It was a rough decision but I think it's best for me, like to thank OSU for this amazing opportunity but my time here has came to an end

Jones let the joke run for all of eight minutes before reassuring fans he wasn’t going anywhere.

MAY FOOLS

Buckeyes fans were understandably upset with him for toying with them, and he responded.

Well someone had to add a spark to your timeline

I don't tweet to entertain or humor you, if you didn't find my joke funny, SUCKS TO BE YOUUUUU May Fools

Make a lil joke that gets you on the edge of your seat and I need to grow up can't take no Jokey Joke?

People kill me, that was a joke about MY life and MY career, NOT YOURS! in the words of the great Aaron Rogers…… RELAX!!

— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) May 1, 2015

Acting like you read something about me beating women, getting arrested, failing a drug test, fighting, etc. harmless freaking joke

— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) May 1, 2015

Jones is competing with Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett for the starting quarterback job, so many have expected one of the three to transfer. Most of the rumors have centered around Miller, not Jones or Barrett. Jones loves Ohio State so much that he delayed his entrance to the school by a year just so he would have a class separation from Miller, who graduated from high school the same year. We would never expect him to transfer.

But between this and what happened in January, people should know by now that Cardale is just a practical joker. Let’s also not forget that he has a track record of sending extremely questionable tweets; be wary of what he does and says online.
