Charlie Strong taking over play-calling duties from DC Vance Bedford
Charlie Strong has wasted little time making changes following Texas’ loss to Oklahoma State.
The Longhorns head coach has stripped defensive coordinator Vance Bedford of play-calling duties and will take them over himself, Orangebloods’ Geoff Ketchum first reported. Strong said on Saturday that he took over some of the play-calling duties during the game — a loss in which Texas gave up 49 points. Bedford didn’t seem too happy during that game.

In a previous loss to Cal, the Longhorns surrendered 50 points.
Texas AD Mike Perrin said after the Oklahoma State loss that everything would be evaluated. A report on Saturday also said that Strong’s job was safe for the season and that changes to the defensive staff were more likely than anything else. Perhaps this is the beginning of those changes.
Texas will face Oklahoma on Saturday. The Longhorns are 2-2 in Strong’s third season as head coach.
