Christian McCaffrey will skip bowl game to prepare for NFL Draft

Christian McCaffrey

Stanford will have to face North Carolina without its best offensive player in the Sun Bowl later this month, as running back Christian McCaffrey has announced he will not be taking part in the game.

McCaffrey, who recently declared for the NFL Draft, wrote on Twitter Monday morning that he has decided to skip Stanford’s bowl game.

McCaffrey is the second prominent player who has chosen to pass on his team’s bowl game to avoid risking injury.

Smith tore his ACL and MCL in his team’s bowl game, and the injury resulted in him slipping down the draft board and missing his entire rookie season.
