Lewis initially committed to USC and Lincoln Riley in August 2023. He was the consensus No. 1 quarterback and top overall prospect in the Class of 2026 at the time. The Georgia product reclassified to the class of 2025 back in January.
Lewis had also recently taken a visit to the University of Georgia, but he ultimately chose to play for Sanders.
Lewis threw for 3,094 yards, 48 touchdowns and 2 interceptions last season while leading Carrollton High School to a 14-1 record. He has 2,842 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and 4 interceptions through 11 games this season, according to MaxPreps.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lewis will have a chance to start as a freshman at Colorado, as Shedeur Sanders is planning to enter the NFL Draft after the season. Lewis’ decision is also likely a good indicator that Deion Sanders has no plans to leave Colorado despite recent rumors linking him to an NFL team.
