Dwayne Haskins didn’t just hand Michigan an ugly loss on Saturday. He made history while doing so.
Haskins threw five touchdown passes in the 62-39 win over the Wolverines. He entered the game with 36 touchdown passes on the season and broke Drew Brees’ Big Ten record of 39 touchdown passes in a single season. He also broke Curtis Painter’s Big Ten record for passing yards (3,985) in a season.
Not only that, but according to Michigan’s record book, Haskins became the first quarterback to ever throw for five touchdowns against the Wolverines.
Haskins keyed the Buckeyes’ big win by playing sharp and finding receivers who constantly were wide open thanks to crossing routes that confused Michigan’s defense. He also rushed for 34 yards. Who knows how many more touchdowns he could have had had Ohio State kept him in inside the 10 instead of putting Tate Martell in so much?
The Buckeyes really could not have asked for more out of him.
