Ex-Ohio State coach Zach Smith arrested following altercation at kids’ school

Former Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith was at the center of the scandal that rocked the Buckeyes football program last year, and it does not sound like he is making a huge effort to change his ways.

Smith, who was fired before the season after allegations of his domestic abuse against his ex-wife Courtney surfaced, was arrested on Thursday following an altercation at the elementary school his children attend. According to TMZ, Smith violated a protective order by showing up to the school to pick his children up at 3 p.m. when he was not supposed to see them until 6 p.m. Police say an altercation began after school officials confronted Smith, and Courtney called 911.

In an audio of the 911 call, Courtney can be heard telling a dispatcher that Zach “came up behind me and tried to get into the school before I did.” She said Zach was irate and yelling and that the police “need to get someone here ASAP.”

There were questions about how much Urban Meyer knew about the domestic violence history between Smith and his ex, and Smith proved he is a loose cannon with some of his Twitter rants after the incidents came to light. It would be a surprise if he finds a job coaching again anytime soon.
