Ezekiel Elliott apologized for his outburst after the loss to Michigan State last week by saying he made a mistake.
Elliott was in a much better mood after rushing for 214 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in Saturday’s 42-13 win over rival Michigan. Following the game, he was interviewed by ESPN’s Holly Rowe, who jokingly asked if he was happy with the play-calling. Elliott took the opportunity to apologize.
“Last week was definitely a mistake,” Elliott said. “I let emotions get the best of me. You don’t know how bad I feel about that. I never want to distract anything from the team. I’m the ultimate team player. All I really care about is winning ballgames.”
Well those comments and his play Saturday certainly made up for things.
The Buckeyes killed the Wolverines on the ground. They rushed for 369 yards and five touchdowns as a group and improved to 11-1 while dropping Michigan to 9-3.
In the same interview, Ohio State head coach also campaigned for Elliott to receive strong consideration for the Heisman Trophy.
Elliott previously apologized last week for his comments after the Michigan State loss, but it certainly does not hurt to do so again.
