Florida players dunked hard on Ole Miss’ basketball hoop after win
Florida on Saturday took Ole Miss’ signature celebration and used it against them.
The Gators outlasted the Rebels 24-17 in front of a raucous crowd at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fla. The result dealt Ole Miss its third loss of the season and effectively knocked the team out of College Football Playoff contention.
Ole Miss is known for bringing a basketball hoop onto the field, which the team uses for some fun sideline celebrations. Florida clearly came prepared for a potential upset. After the game, the Gators stuck their team logo on the backboard and began dunking on the portable hoop.

The two teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 17. With Ole Miss’ postseason hopes on the line, Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart was unable to perform under the spotlight. Dart went 4/10 in the final quarter with two interceptions. He also got sacked twice across four scoreless drives.
Ole Miss entered the game listed 9th in the College Football Playoff rankings after a resounding win over Georgia last week. The team could have virtually secured its spot in this season’s expanded playoff by avoiding an upset loss against unranked foes Florida and Mississippi State.
The Rebels, instead, got their playoff bid mercilessly dunked on.
