Georgia WR Colbie Young arrested on disturbing charges

Yet another Georgia football player has been arrested, and the wide receiver is facing some very troubling charges.

Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with assaulting an unborn child and battery, according to jail records in Athens Clarke-County. A police report that was obtained by Connor Riley of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that Young became physical with a woman after the woman went to Young’s apartment to discuss the status of her relationship with him.

The 20-year-old woman told police that she got into an argument with Young after she learned he had been on the phone with another woman. The alleged victim says Young grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out of the room before returning to the room and locking the door. When the woman called a friend and began to gather her things to leave, she says Young came out of the room and “picked her up and began to squeeze her torso and abdomen very hard.”

The woman said she believed Young was trying to harm her when he picked her up. She told police that she was “scared” of Young and that he had mentally abused her in the past.

According to the police report, officers saw a bruise and some discoloration on the alleged victim’s chest. Young denied getting physical with the woman and said any injuries she sustained were not a result of his actions, but he was still arrested.

More than two dozen Georgia football players have been arrested since January 2023, most on driving-related charges. A Bulldogs player was also arrested on family violence charges over the summer.

Young, a senior transfer from Miami, has 11 catches for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns this season. His 51 receiving yards against Auburn on Saturday were a team-high.
