The TCU player who was kicked off the team for allegedly fighting a teammate is now facing charges over the incident.
Former TCU safety Jacob Fields was arrested Sunday on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN. Fields is being held at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Tex. and is expected to be released on bond Sunday.
Fields allegedly punched Horned Frogs wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the locker room Aug. 13. Ezukanma claimed in an Instagram video that Fields sucker punched him and that he was knocked unconscious when his head hit the floor. Fields was dismissed from the team after the incident was reported to the university.
In a statement, Fields’ agent, Philip Miller, said Fields would allow the legal process to run its course and added “there will be a time for the truth.”

Fields had just transferred to TCU from Louisiana Tech. He was last season’s Conference USA Co-Defensive Player of the Year after notching 92 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions last season. The senior had been in the running to start in TCU’s secondary.
Ezukanma did not travel with the Horned Frogs to Dublin for their season-opening loss against North Carolina on Saturday.
