Justin Fields admits his knee is not 100 percent
Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields has a real worry ahead of the team’s playoff game against Clemson: the health of his injured knee.
Fields admitted Tuesday that his knee was only “80 to 85 percent,” and he voiced frustration with how slow his recovery has been from the sprained MCL he suffered in his second-to-last game of the season against Penn State.
“My knee is not where I wanted it to be right now,” Fields said, via Anna Hickey of 247Sports. “I definitely thought I would be close to 100 percent. I’m just going to hope and pray that I feel better by game day ready.”
Fields said his primary issue is stiffness after sitting for lengthy periods of time.
“When I sit down for an extended period of time, it’s stiff when I get back up,” Fields said. “Hopefully with adrenaline on Saturday, I should be fine.”
Given the timing of the injury, we know that Fields beat Michigan while hobbled, which is encouraging. It’s not great, however, that he’s still nursing that injury almost a month later. With the game four days away, he is running out of time for rehab.
