Kendal Briles is leaving Houston for Florida State, as expected.
Briles has resigned from his job as Houston’s offensive coordinator to join Willie Taggart’s staff at Florida State, according to reporter Bruce Feldman. Yahoo’s Pete Thamel says Briles’ buyout was around $850,000 from Houston.
Florida State has long been the expected destination here. FSU needs to contend with giant buyout (around $850,000, according to people familiar) and backlash that comes with the Briles name. https://t.co/qGY4l9VhHd

Briles had just received a big contract extension from Houston — three years worth $2.1 million.
Briles, 36, is the son of disgraced former Baylor head coach Art Briles. He was hired by Lane Kiffin at FAU and served as their offensive coordinator in 2017 and moved to Houston to be Major Applewhite’s OC this season. The Cougars were the No. 4 scoring team in the country this season. Florida State had one of the worst offenses in the country and could use a boost on that end.
