Kyle Murray was benched for Oklahoma’s first series on Saturday against Baylor, and now we know what happened.
Murray was late to a team practice on Friday, which is a violation of team rules. Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley said after Saturday’s 66-33 win that Murray was late because he set his alarm wrong.

Though it seems to be a minor infraction, Riley still disciplined him. It all worked out for the Sooners, who recovered a muffed punt following their opening series. Murray then entered the game and punched it in for a touchdown.
The two-sport star had another sublime performance for Oklahoma, going 17-of-21 for 432 yards and 6 touchdown passes and rushing for 45 yards and a score. He remains one of the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy.
