LSU fans are losing patience with head coach Brian Kelly following Saturday’s loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Tigers lost 31-24 Saturday at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tenn. The loss dropped LSU to 5-2 on the season and just 2-2 in SEC play with games against Texas A&M and Alabama yet to come on their schedule.
For LSU fans, that is not good enough, and the finger was quickly pointed at Kelly for what is shaping up to be another middling season. A number of fans made clear that they want to see Kelly shown the door, much like Penn State did with James Franklin.
Nick Saban understood the fan base

Les Miles, somehow, understood the fan base
Ed Orgeron understood the fan base
Brian Kelly does not and has never understood this fan base

Brian Kelly is worse than Les Miles by a mile

Can’t believe we ever compared the two
Kelly did himself no favors last month, when he went off on a reporter after an unconvincing victory over Florida. That only furthered a perception among LSU fans that Kelly simply does not maintain high enough standards for a program that expects to contend for national championships.
There was a segment of the LSU fanbase that wanted Kelly gone last year. While he is 34-13 at the school, he has yet to get the Tigers to the College Football Playoff, and has never lost fewer than three games in a season. He will have to run the table for that to remain true this year, and that is insufficient considering he is making $9 million per season.
