Report: Miami looking into hiring Alonzo Highsmith
The Miami Hurricanes are looking to make changes to their football program, and they could turn to a name from the past in hopes of a boost.
The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reported on Monday that Miami has strong interest in hiring Highsmith for a chief of staff type of role.

Jackson later said Highsmith spoke with Miami athletic director Blake James about a high-level football administrative job. Miami intends to interview other candidates and is prioritizing its search for a new offensive coordinator first.

Highsmith is a player from Miami’s glory days. He played for the Hurricanes from 1983-1986 and later became the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Highsmith is now the VP of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns and has worked in NFL front offices since 2012. He previously worked for the Packers.
