Nick Saban welcomes second grandchild after daughter Kristen gives birth
Nick Saban became a grandfather for the first time back in 2013, and now he has welcomed a second grandchild into the world.
Saban’s daughter Kristen gave birth to a new baby boy James on Monday morning. She shared a photo on Twitter of herself with her husband and their new child.

This is the 68-year-old Alabama coach’s first grandson.
Saban has said in the past that he is somewhat feared by his players and even his children. But he says things are different with his granddaughter.
“My kids were always afraid of me,” Saban said on his radio show in 2016. “And most of the players are a little afraid of me. But little Amelie, she’s not afraid of me at all. And I expect her to be afraid of me and she’s not. It’s kind of shocking, actually.
“I mean, I’m really, really moved by that. It means that through the years, I’ve mellowed enough that some little one that I love isn’t afraid of me. And I really appreciate that.”
Maybe there is something different about the way a grandparent treats their grandchild, and that’s reflected in the grandchild’s behavior. Whatever the case, congratulations to Saban and his daughter’s family.
