Nick Saban supports Tuscaloosa native Deontay Wilder ahead of fight
Nick Saban has a busy week preparing for Alabama’s game against Georgia in the SEC Championship on Saturday, but he found time to express his support for Deontay Wilder.
Wilder, a Tuscaloosa native, is fighting Tyson Fury on Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Showtime pay-per-view. The 33-year-old is looking to retain his WBC heavyweight title when he squares off with the Englishman.

“We’re so proud of the way you represent Tuscaloosa,” Saban said in the video.
Between Wilder and Saban’s Crimson Tide, Saturday is shaping up as a big day in Tuscaloosa. Fans in the area are hoping both can stay undefeated, with Alabama improving to 13-0 and Wilder going to 41-0. Wilder has won 39 of his 40 fights by knockout.
