Five-star offensive tackle Landon Young made headlines last week when he unloaded on Urban Meyer for the way the Ohio State coach supposedly treated him during a recruiting visit. Suddenly, Young is taking it all back.
On Wednesday, Young took to Twitter to apologize and explain that the quotes that were printed were “mistaken.”

It’s hard to believe that everything Young said could have been taken out of context, as his remarks were pretty strong. He claimed Ohio State treated him like “crap” and that Meyer rubbed him the wrong way by telling him he was an “insubstantial” recruit at one point.
You can read the rest of Young’s rant here and decide for yourself if it sounds like he found humor in his Ohio State visit.
Meyer had nothing but good things to say about Young when speaking to reporters earlier this week, and it’s possible the coach reached out to Young to smooth things over.
“We have a lot of respect for him as a player, a lot,” Meyer said, per Austin Ward of ESPN.com. “I was very disappointed in our staff that we didn’t offer him earlier. Then about the treatment thing, we don’t do that on purpose, if that’s his feelings. I went back and talked to our staff about it.
“We don’t want that to be happening, but that was one [recruit] out of 650 saying ‘Someone has treated me bad.'”
Young has said that he will stick to his original commitment with Kentucky.
