Ryan Day looked so relieved after getting big Ohio State recruiting news
The world got to see some of the emotion that goes into high-level college recruiting on Wednesday when Ohio State coach Ryan Day got some huge news during the middle of a press conference.
Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the No. 1 player in the 2024 recruiting class, solidified his commitment to the Buckeyes on Wednesday. He had previously committed to Ohio State in December 2022, but several schools tried to flip him late in the process.
Day was clearly at least a little bit worried about those other schools. When informed of Smith’s final decision during a press conference, he was visibly relieved.

Day did not offer much in the way of a comment because he wanted to make sure all protocol was followed, but that is a man who was tremendously stressed out about this.
This qualifies as a big win for Day, who needed something like this after a rough few months. At the very least, he will continue to have plenty of talent at his disposal going forward.
