The USC Trojans will have a true freshman quarterback starting their season opener next weekend.
With Sam Darnold having departed for the NFL, USC has had a quarterback competition throughout camp. Jack Sears, Matt Fink, and J.T. Daniels all received snaps with the first team. The school announced on Sunday that Daniels has won the job and will be under center when the Trojans take on UNLV.

Daniels is a 5-star recruit from Mater Dei High School in Southern California, the same school that produced former Trojan QBs Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley. He committed to the Trojans last year and enrolled in school in June.
The Trojans open the season ranked No. 15 in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls.
