Tony Hawk reveals that he recently suffered serious injury
Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk is recovering after suffering a major injury in an apparent skateboarding accident.
Hawk revealed on Instagram this week that he recently broke his femur bone. The 53-year-old acknowledged that recovery would be difficult due to his age and the severity of the injury. But Hawk also said that he was up for the challenge and declared that “I’ll be back.”
X-rays that Hawk shared of the injury appeared to show a complete break.
While Hawk did not mention how he suffered the injury, TMZ reports that it occurred while Hawk was skateboarding.
Hawk, probably the greatest and most well-known skateboarder of all-time, has remained active into his 50s. While he has not competed professionally in nearly two decades, Hawk continued to skate throughout the years and even landed a 720 at age 52 last year.
A broken femur bone, the largest bone in the human body, is obviously no small injury, especially for somebody of Hawk’s age. But Hawk has always been an inspirational athlete, and he sounds determined to conquer the difficult recovery process ahead of him.
