A new report suggests that an Aaron Donald comeback keeps looking less and less likely.
In an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Peter Schrager of ESPN said he expected Donald to have made a decision on a comeback by now. The fact that Donald has not yet done so is raising serious questions about whether he intends to do it at all.
“Aaron Donald needs to feel like he’s 100 percent ready to go, and the numbers have to make sense. We’re not even at the numbers yet, and here we are, about ten days away from when they fly out to Australia, and they don’t have him on board.
“I think they’re all in wait-and-see mode. If Aaron Donald wants to play and the numbers make sense, he’ll be there. But this is really in Aaron Donald’s court, and as of right now, it seems like he doesn’t feel like he’s at the point where he wants to declare that he’s coming back right now.”

The Rams refused to put a deadline on a Donald decision, and perhaps as a result, they are still waiting. For a time, it seemed like the defensive lineman had done everything short of coming back, including working out at team facilities.
The Rams open the regular season in Melbourne on Sept. 10. That means the team has a game in less than two weeks and still does not know if Donald will be joining the team. At this point, they might just assume that they will not have him, and it will be a pleasant surprise if he does join them.
Whispers of a potential Donald comeback began to spread the moment the Rams traded for Myles Garrett in June. Donald himself reportedly told media members that he instantly began weighing the pros and cons once the trade went down, but has been largely silent since then.
