After deliberating for nearly a week, a jury reached a verdict in the double homicide trial of Aaron Hernandez.
Hernandez had been accused of shooting Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado on July 16, 2012 in Boston. Prosecutors claimed the former Patriots tight end killed the two men in a drive-by shooting. However, the defense team of Hernandez argued it was his friend Alexander Bradley who shot the men.
On Friday, the jury acquitted Hernandez of the murder charges.

Sad day for the de Abreu and Furtado families. Hernandez exonerated, Bradley has immunity. So no matter what happened, no justice for them.

Hernandez was charged with unlawfully carrying the weapon used in the murders, a .38-caliber revolver. He also is serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
