The Pittsburgh Steelers were dominated by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and Aaron Rodgers was understandably frustrated following the blowout loss. The quarterback held himself accountable for the result, but he also called out one of his teammates by name.
Rodgers went just 10/21 for 117 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in the Steelers’ 26-7 Week 13 loss to the Bills at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Steelers had an opportunity to cut the lead to one possession early in the fourth quarter, but they turned the ball over on downs deep in Buffalo territory.
Pittsburgh’s best chance to score on that drive came on 2nd-and-10 from the Bills 15-yard line. Rodgers was looking to hit tight end Jonnu Smith on the play, and the quarterback was visibly angry after the pass fell incomplete.

In his postgame press conference, Rodgers made reference to pass-catchers not running the correct routes. He pointed to the play where he and Smith were not on the same page and said Smith missed the audible.
“When there’s film sessions, everybody shows up, and when I check to a route, you do the right route, you know? Jonnu and I just weren’t on the same page,” Rodgers said. “I checked to an in-breaker and he ran an out-breaker. Jonnu’s a true professional, so I’m sure he’s sick about that.”
Rodgers also admitted that he was off-target on some throws he should have hit.
“I threw a ball I thought was gonna get hit by the wind and it was 4 yards over Roman (Wilson), so I gotta make that throw,” Rodgers said. “We have our meetings every week. We have other opportunities outside of the facility, and I look forward to seeing all the boys there.”

The Steelers led 7-3 at halftime, but the game got away from them after that. Rodgers fumbled on Pittsburgh’s first offensive play of the second half after taking a huge hit from Joey Bosa. The Bills returned the fumble for a touchdown, which completely flipped the momentum. Rodgers was left bleeding from the nose and in pain after the hit from Bosa.
Rodgers was also playing through a fractured left wrist and had to wear a brace, so that almost certainly impacted his performance. The question now is whether he can do enough going forward to keep the 6-6 Steelers in the playoff hunt.
