Aaron Rodgers has interesting response to questions about his retirement
Aaron Rodgers kept things cryptic on Sunday when asked about his NFL future.
Rodgers had arguably the best game of his brief New York Jets tenure in a 32-20 win over the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The 4-time All-Pro went 23/36 for 274 yards with 4 touchdowns and an interception.
The 41-year-old’s strong finish to the season only raised more questions about his future, both with the Jets and in the NFL. That’s why it was no surprise that Rodgers’ postgame press conference revolved around what was next for the 10-time Pro Bowler.
“I just need some time away to think about my future in the game,” said Rodgers when asked about his future with the Jets. “And my future here if they want me to be a part of the next phase or they’re ready to move on. Either way, I’m thankful for my two years here.
“But truthfully, I don’t know. I’m looking for those conversations … It feels good to be able to do some of the things the last five or six weeks I knew I was capable of doing, even at 41. But either way, I won’t be upset or offended, whatever they decide to do, if they want to move on, if I still want to play.”

Rodgers added that he would be willing to play for a different team if (1) he still wants to play next season and (2) the Jets decide to move on from him.
Rodgers’ 4-TD tally against the Dolphins was his first game with at least four touchdowns since Week 11 of the 2021 season. But based on Rodgers’ answers on Sunday, the man no longer sounds completely sure about extending beyond his 20th season in the NFL.
