Adam Schefter shares the Dolphins’ stance on trading Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill had trouble hiding his frustrations as the Miami Dolphins were being blown out by the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, which has led to a new wave of speculation about the star wide receiver being traded. ESPN’s Adam Schefter does not think that is going to happen — at least in the very near future.

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” Monday, Schefter was asked about the chances of Hill being traded. Schefter said the Dolphins believe they have a good team and are not hitting the panic button after their Week 1 loss.

“I don’t think the Dolphins are thinking of trading Tyreek Hill now, but if the season continues to go this way, obviously, you’d have to think that all options would be on the table at that point in time,” Schefter said. “They’re trying to turn things around. It’s one game, on the road in Indianapolis against a Colts team that hadn’t won an opener in almost 4,400 days, that came in inspired with Jim Irsay being inducted into the Ring of Honor.

“The Dolphins still think they have a good team. Again, it’s up to them to go out and prove it. They’re not gonna trade away Tyreek Hill now. If they have more games like that and the losses start piling up, I think all of us, logically, would have to think at that point in time, you start looking to the future. They’re not there right now after Week 1.”

The Dolphins were dominated 33-8 by the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. Mike McDaniel’s team looked completely outmatched from the opening snap. Miami’s defense was non-existent in the first half, and their offense gained only 211 total yards.

Hill caught 4 passes for 40 yards, which was a team-high. He looked angry on the sideline after a few of the Dolphins’ drives sputtered out in the first half, which led to fans all making the same joke about the former All-Pro.

Hill openly vented his frustrations following the 2024 season and suggested he wanted out of Miami. He later apologized and said he wants to remain with the team, but he fueled speculation once again during the offseason with his cryptic social media activity.

Most people expect Hill to want a trade if the Dolphins cannot find ways to get him the ball. Miami will face another extremely difficult test on the road against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, and they will likely need to score plenty of points in that game to keep up.
