Jaguars CB AJ Bouye tired of people downplaying team’s success

A.J. Bouye thinks it’s high time that the Jacksonville Jaguars start getting some darn respect around these parts.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, the Jaguars cornerback went off on the excuses that people have been making for their opponents.

“They always make excuses for everybody,” said Bouye, per John Oehser of the team’s website. “They play good until they play us, then the excuses come.

“We just use it as motivation,” he continued. “People say we won the Houston game because Deshaun Watson didn’t play in the first half; the last time I checked, they only scored seven points in the second half. Baltimore was the next big thing. They were 2-0 and had the best defense. We win, and all of a sudden Joe Flacco doesn’t have it anymore … We’re expecting excuses. We’re not going to get the recognition we want … All we can do is let our work speak for itself, and that’s one thing we’re going to continue to try to do.”

The Jaguars have been one of the better stories in the NFL this season, leading the AFC South with a record of 3-2 thanks largely to their dominant defense. They currently lead the league in sacks (20.0), interceptions (ten), and defensive touchdowns (four), which has helped them post the best point differential in the NFL as well. The Jags have clearly gotten into the heads of their opponents, and it’s probably time to acknowledge that everybody else isn’t just unlucky — they are just that good.
