After spending his first six seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is starting to get used to a new environment.
He was traded by the Colts to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason, putting him in a situation where he could catch passes from four-time NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers’ future with the Steelers, and in the NFL for that matter, remains up in the air. In a way, he has Pittsburgh’s hands tied up.
But if Rodgers ends up running it back with the Steelers (and Mike McCarthy), Pittman will have zero problems playing with the 10-time Pro Bowler.
“Whenever you have a chance to play with a Hall of Fame quarterback, you always take that,” Pittman said during his introductory news conference with the Steelers, via Chris Harlan of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Pittman also had kind words for the other Steelers quarterbacks, who will see more of the former USC Trojans star wideout on the field in training camp.
“We also have two really good quarterbacks here in Mason (Rudolph) and Will (Howard), so whatever ends up turning out, I think we’ll have a good plan offensively and we’ll make the most of it,” added Pittman.
Given their current options under center, including Rodgers, the Steelers don’t have much upside at quarterback, and Pittman was likely just being diplomatic in his assessment of the team’s situation.
While the Steelers sort that out, they can feel good about their outlook downfield, as they now boast a formidable duo in Pittman and DK Metcalf.
