Shortly after Peyton Manning was introduced as the new Broncos quarterback, the 49ers had to sack up and go back to their old girlfriend, Alex Smith. NFL Network reported that Smith and the Niners agreed to terms on a new deal Tuesday.
Smith previously was offered a three-year contract from the team but declined to sign knowing they were courting Peyton Manning. He was said to be upset with the organization and he took a free agent visit to Miami.
Now both parties get to pretend like their little breakup never happened. We sure know coach Jim Harbaugh is.
“It’s a strong relationship as always,” Harbaugh told reporters.
Awww, they’ve kissed and made up! How sweet. Now we’ll get to see if Smith’s shaken confidence will affect his play next season.
