Allen Robinson ‘shocked’ by his struggles this year
Allen Robinson was a revelation for the Jaguars last season as he caught a franchise record 14 touchdown passes. This season he’s far off the numbers he posted last year, and that has him frustrated and searching for answers.
Following a two-catch game Sunday against the Raiders, Robinson said he was “shocked” by his play this season.
“I’m pretty shocked,” Robinson said via the Florida Times-Union. “It’s frustrating. I can’t focus on those plays last year. I’ve got to make the plays this year. I can’t try to make a super play every time. I’ve just got to make the play in front of me.”
Not only is Robinson not making the long-yardage plays he did so frequently last season, but he is also dropping many passes. He dropped a potential touchdown against the Bears, and he only hauled in two of eight targets against Oakland.
Through six games, Robinson has 26 catches on 55 targets for 296 yards and three touchdowns. Last season he posted 80 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Jags, meanwhile, have not taken the leap this season they were hoping for, as they’re 2-4.
