Everything seemed to go the Eagles’ way last season, but not much is starting off right for Philly this season.
Not only is Carson Wentz’s status for the opener in question, but the team is also likely to be without top receiver Alshon Jeffery for at least the first two weeks.
Jeffery is recovering from a February shoulder surgery but will still open the season on the active roster. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter say the Eagles are optimistic that Jeffery could be back for Week 3.
After starting his career with the Bears, Jeffery signed with the Eagles last season and scored 9 touchdowns. He was an even bigger factor in the postseason, catching three touchdowns, including two in the NFC title game and one in the Super Bowl.
Between Jeffery and Wentz, the Eagles might not get their best offensive players back until Week 3.
