Davis was the 11th overall pick in the 2010 draft and was part of the 2012 49ers team that won the NFC. He was part of a slew of San Francisco retirements following the 2014 season. San Francisco still holds his rights.
Davis is, in truth, doing exactly as he said he would. Upon announcing his retirement, he said pretty much immediately that he intended to return in a year after giving his brain and body time to heal. It seems that he’s true to his word. The fact that Greg Roman isn’t there anymore probably helped his decision.
