Anthony Davis retiring but will be back in ‘year or so’
Three members of the 49ers have retired since last season ended. Patrick Willis, Chris Borland, and Justin Smith all decided they have played their last games in the NFL. On Friday, right tackle Anthony Davis joined them, however his time away from the game appears to be temporary.
The 25-year-old indicated he would likely return, but wants to give his body time to heal and recoup.
I'll be back in a year or so.. I'll be 26 or 27 years old. Im taking this time to allow my Brain and Body time to heal and recoup.

The Niners selected Davis with the 11th overall pick in 2010 and will retain his rights, placing him on the reserve/retired list.
Davis’ decision to step away for however long he feels is necessary can certainly be understood looking back at his 2014 season. Davis played in just seven games after not missing any during his first four years. He suffered a concussion, which led to four games on the sideline. Davis also suffered hamstring, ankle, and shoulder injuries.
While there is no telling when (or if) Davis will return, 49ers CEO Jed York wants Davis to know he is always welcome.
@BamDavis_ wish you the best. Don't be a stranger
