Anthony Richardson suffers injury on running play
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered an injury during his team’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Richardson took a big shot from Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick on a running play in the first quarter at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. Richardson appeared to be in pain and immediately grabbed at his right hip. He briefly left the game.

Richardson went to the sideline for two plays and then returned. On his first play back in the huddle, the Colts called a designed run for the quarterback. Richardson appeared to have trouble moving and voluntarily dropped to the turf after gaining a few yards.
I can’t believe the Colts coaches did this.
Anthony Richardson left the game with a hip injury, at the 5:30 mark. He returns, limping, 2 minutes later, and the very first play is a QB run!!

Joe Flacco replaced Richardson after that play. Richardson was taken to the locker room and ruled out for the remainder of the game a short while later.
Richardson had his rookie season cut short last year due to a shoulder injury. That injury occurred on a running play as well, which you can see here.
One of the reasons Richardson has found success early in his career is that he is a legitimate dual-threat QB. That has also left him susceptible to injuries, which has become a problem for the former Florida star.
